1. About these terms

These terms of service ("Terms") govern your use of the ForensicWorkshops.co.uk website and the booking of forensic science workshops provided by Den Kara ("we", "us", "our").

By using this website or booking a workshop, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or our services.

2. Our services

ForensicWorkshops.co.uk provides forensic science workshops, lectures, and educational sessions to schools and colleges. Our services include:

  • Full-day BTEC workshops (Unit 23 and other forensic science units)
  • Primary school forensic science sessions
  • Guest lectures on forensic science topics
  • Careers talks and presentations

All workshops are delivered on-site at your school or college unless otherwise agreed.

3. Enquiries and bookings

3.1 Enquiries

Submitting an enquiry through our website or by phone does not create a binding agreement. An enquiry is a request for information and a quote.

3.2 Booking confirmation

A booking is confirmed only when both parties have agreed in writing (including email) to the date, workshop content, group size, and fee. We will send a booking confirmation summarising the agreed details.

3.3 Pricing

All workshops are individually quoted based on the school's requirements, group size, and location. Prices are provided on a per-booking basis. We do not publish fixed prices on the website as every workshop is tailored.

4. Cancellation and rescheduling

4.1 Cancellation by you

  • More than 14 days before the workshop - Full refund or free rescheduling
  • 7-14 days before the workshop - 50% of the agreed fee is payable, or free rescheduling to an alternative date within 3 months
  • Less than 7 days before the workshop - The full fee is payable unless we can reschedule to a mutually convenient date

4.2 Cancellation by us

In the unlikely event we need to cancel (for example due to illness), we will offer a full refund or rescheduling to the earliest convenient date at no additional cost.

4.3 School closures and force majeure

If a workshop cannot proceed due to circumstances beyond either party's control (such as severe weather, school closure directives, or public health restrictions), we will reschedule at no additional cost.

5. Payment

Payment terms will be agreed at the time of booking. Typically:

  • Invoices are sent after the workshop has been delivered
  • Payment is due within 30 days of invoice
  • Payment can be made by bank transfer

We understand that school payment processes can take time and are happy to work with your finance team's procedures.

6. Workshop delivery

6.1 Your responsibilities

The booking school or college agrees to provide:

  • A suitable classroom or lab space for the workshop
  • A member of school staff present throughout the session (safeguarding requirement)
  • Access to basic facilities (tables, chairs, hand-washing, power sockets)
  • Advance notice of any students with additional needs that may affect workshop activities

6.2 Our responsibilities

We will provide:

  • All materials and equipment needed for the practical exercises
  • A workshop tailored to the agreed curriculum focus and student level
  • A current DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate
  • Appropriate public liability insurance

6.3 Safeguarding

We hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate. A member of school staff must be present at all times during the workshop, in line with safeguarding best practice. We do not work one-to-one with students.

7. Intellectual property

All workshop materials, presentations, and content are the intellectual property of Den Kara / ForensicWorkshops.co.uk. Materials provided during workshops are for educational use within your institution only and may not be reproduced, distributed, or resold without written permission.

8. Liability

We carry public liability insurance to cover our workshop activities. However:

  • We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of information provided during workshops beyond the scope of the educational activities
  • The school or college remains responsible for student behaviour and supervision
  • Our total liability in connection with any booking shall not exceed the fee paid for that workshop
